Somerset has been famous for Apples, Cider and Cheddar Cheese for centuries but there’s so much more local produce to discover. We recommend that you contact your chosen venue before planning a visit.

Westcombe Dairy

This is a small, family-run, artisan cheese-maker. Visitors are welcome to sample award-winning cheeses directly from the aging room, try apple spirits from the Somerset Cider Brandy Co. or try the craft bottle beers from the Wild Beer Co. The beer is also available to take away in a two litre resealable 'growler' - just pop back any time for a refill.

The Godminster Cheese Shop

Not a farm shop per se but they create the most delicious organic cheeses from their farm outside Bruton. Lovingly prepared and beautifully wrapped, these cheeses make a perfect present. Visit for vodka sampling, daily cheese tasting, or simply a friendly chat about their cheeses.

Pennard Organic wines and ciders

Hugh and Hilary Tripp started their organic award-winning vineyard in 1981 and also established an orchard to satisfy Hugh’s passion for cider making. This has led to the production of mead and fruit wines. Visitors are welcome to self-tour the grounds and are invited to free tastings.
